Hello, my name is Joanna Brown! I’m currently a Student at Sheridan College for Special effects Make up and Prop Design. I’m also a Graduate from OCAD U for 2D Animation and Digital Painting. I’m passionate about creating stories that appeal to a diverse range of people and are inclusive for everyone.

Some examples of series I would model after include Rick and Morty, Adventure Time, and Steven’s Universe. My greatest accomplishments so far include my story development ideas for a future series that I wish to develop. This combined with my growing knowledge of making stop motion puppets will turn my goal of making a future series into a reality.

The skills that continue to develop for me professionally are centered around my love of stop motion animation and building props. These range from creating “to-scale drawings” to building with various materials. The creative process drives my abilities to be at their best. I am proud of my ability to carry a project from design to working creation, and this strong approach to get work done as efficiently as possible sets me apart from a lot of people. I believe in meeting deadlines, as time costs money. In our field, a project extending past the deadline can become particularly expensive for the producer.

One of my strong traits, that really helps in my work abilities, is what they used to say, “the gift of gab”. Or the ability to talk and engage anyone in conversation, where listening and understanding is just as important as talking. When engaging other artists or clients, the ability to relate ideas and process ideas goes a long way. Especially when getting a project rolling with few hitches as possible, because the creative team had been communicating and sharing properly. These skills allow me to be capable in the design and building of clay puppets and various props needed for productions.
